Thomas Wesley Pentz, better known as Diplo, is one of the most dynamic forces in music today. Winner of two 2016 Grammy Awards for Best Dance Recording and Best Dance/Electronic Album, as well as two-time nominee for Producer of the Year, he's proven himself to be a ubiquitous cultural figure, consistently bridging high and low, mainstream and underground, with remarkable tact and reverence.

2015 saw new heights of success for Diplo. His dancehall supergroup Major Lazer's collaboration with DJ Snake, 'Lean On' featuring M0, became the most successful independently released song of all time after peaking at #1 on the Top 40 chart and being certified Double Platinum by the RIAA. With over 700 million streams to date, 'Lean On' has been crowned Spotify's most streamed song of all time and is one of only a handful of videos that has reached over 1 billion views on YouTube.

The Double Platinum single 'Where Are U Now,' featuring Justin Bieber, from Diplo's Jack U collaboration with Skrillex has enjoyed similar success. Along with the aforementioned Grammy Awards the track has won the group an MTV European Music Award as well as an American Music Award for Collaboration of the Year.

Local Opener: DJ Sneeky Long

DJ Sneeky Long: Sound selector, purveyor of deep, soulful grooves and all things funky.

Never afraid to go too deep, his musical selections are his own therapy. Having grown up on a healthy dosage of punk, reggae, funk and especially hip-hop, the latter eventually led him on a quest to discover the source of the elusive "samples" that make up most hip hop tracks. This infatuation, in turn, grew into an insatiable hunt for records that has not stopped to this day. Before he was even of age he was using a fake ID to DJ at clubs around the city, sometimes opening for major hip hop acts as their tours came through town. For about the first 10 years of DJing he stuck pretty much to spinning hip-hop and break beats. It wasn't until 2009, when he got his first weekly residency at Kristauf's Martini Lounge downtown, that he really cut his teeth as a jack of all trades.

Fast forward to 2016 and you can find him spinning all manner of music in several downtown venues, from Twist on Saturday nights where he rocks for a full house a more commercial set to Bar X on Thursday nights where he and fellow DJ ChaseOne2 tag team open format sets, keeping the vibe a little more mellow. He also plays the occasional stint at Tinwell, The Rest, and Undercurrent, and will be starting a new Friday night residency at the upcoming Good Grammar Bar behind Gallivan Plaza. Like fellow members of the Caviar Club, (a small collective of SLC DJ's which includes ChaseOne2, J Godina, Finale Grand, and Black Vinyl) Sneeky Long's primary forte is vinyl. In this constantly evolving world of new technology, he finds it imperative to stick to the basics and he plays all vinyl sets whenever the gig allows. "At the end of the night, I just want to have contributed to people grooving out and having a good time. As a DJ it's not about me. It's about everyone else in the room."
